Many people with gastroparesis have feeding tubes and the idea was incredibly appealing at the time. People with feeding tubes can lead healthy active lives without the stress of getting sick every time they eat.
Last December I had to stop taking my Gastroparesis medication (called Domperidone) for a few weeks due to some side effects. Eating became terrible. I was basically just having liquids but was in so much pain every time I'd eat. I would vomit frequently and was constantly really nauseous. I lost 17 lbs, became underweight, and my hair started falling out. Many people with gastroparesis have feeding tubes and the idea was incredibly appealing at the time. People with feeding tubes can lead healthy active lives without the stress of getting sick every time they eat. Thankfully I was able to go back on my medication and slowly became able to eat again. I'm so happy to have a medication that helps my gastroparesis so immensely.
