Not much else is new.
Sincerely,
Zombie Lisa
Still resting today. My face feels like someone is pounding it with a hammer, my stomach is still upset, and I still experience pre-syncope when I go from laying down to sitting up in bed. Not much else is new. Sincerely, Zombie Lisa

Not much is new. I caught a cold a few days ago so I've been laying low (or lower than usual I suppose). Exercising has been put on hold for now. Ever since I developed Gastroparesis, I get really nauseous and/or vomit when I have colds. I'm not entirely sure why. My POTS also gets bad when I have a cold, and I feel like I'm starting to pass out all the time. My heart races when I stand and my vision starts to go white/black/fuzzy. Even going from lying down to sitting up in bed makes me feel dizzy, causes palpitations, and causes my vision to fade. Sometimes I picture my body as a separate entity, who happens to be a huge drama queen. A tiny cold virus enters, and my little blood cells and antibodies run around screaming - alerting every other system in my body, so that they too can run around like chickens with their heads cut off. I should really just go to bed now...
Yesterday Archie and I pushed ourselves to go for a rainy walk. My POTS was worse than usual, so every time I stopped walking, blood immediately pooled in my feet and I started feeling like I was going to faint. When this happens, my heart rate spikes, I feel like I can't catch my breath, my vision starts to go blurry and dark, my stomach gets upset and it feels like everything is starting to spin around me. All of this happens just because I stopped walking! Archie doesn't get too many potty breaks along our walk, since stopping to pick up after him is often the hardest part of the walk. POTS has got to be one of the weirdest disorders - where a person can run a marathon but will pass out from standing in a grocery store lineup. As soon as I got home, I lay on the kitchen floor for a few minutes. I felt proud of myself for exercising, but was so exhausted and dizzy. I know it's all worth it in the long term. Did you know, that in Canada, about 3500 people die each year from complications of the flu? These people usually have pre-existing health conditions or are elderly. ***Did you know that the flu shot DOESN'T work as well on people with chronic health conditions, elderly, and young children? While it still provides some protection, it doesn't work as well as it does in healthy adults.*** So one of the best protection for someone who is more susceptible to complications from the flu is to have those around them get vaccinated. British Columbia: In BC, the flu shot is FREE for many people. I'm eligible for the free flu shot (because of my chronic health issues), as well as my husband and roommate, because they live in the same house as me. It is also free for children under 5, seniors, Native Americans, and pregnant women. If you work or live with someone who has a chronic health problem, you are also eligible for the free flu shot. For example, if a child has asthma, then the entire family is eligible for the free flu shot. For BC Immunization locations, visit http://www.immunizebc.ca/clinics/flu There are many people who say the flu shot doesn't work or isn't safe. I've personally seen it work for me when everyone around me got the flu and I just got a milder version (no virus is ever mild for me). There is also no scientific research that has found flu shots to be unsafe.
