THANKFUL
1. I'm thankful for my bed. It is a queen sized bed with a large comforter and many blankets. It is my safe haven that will always make me feel a bit better. Whenever I'm really sick, I always just want to crawl into my bed. I know I am one of a few privileged people around the world who have a bed to sleep on. That is something I so often forget. Not only do I have a bed, but I only share it with one other person (and sometimes a dog). Many people who have a bed share it with their whole family.
2. I'm thankful for technology. Today I spent the whole day in bed, feeling miserable. I would've been isolated a lot of the day, if I didn't have a wealth of friends at my fingertips. I spent the day talking to people online - both old friends and meeting new friends. It is very encouraging to connect with other people with POTS and Gastroparesis who can say, "I know what you're going through" and I know they truly mean that. I like reading stories of people who were in the same place as I am now but recovered.
3. I'm thankful for distractions. When I'm sick, games are a great way to get my mind off of things. Today I had a lot of fun beating a challenging level on Lego Batman 2. I'm also progressing quickly in Candy Crush. ;)

BIBLE VERSE
Today I was encouraged by Matthew 9:10-12
Today I was encouraged by Matthew 9:10-12
And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.
But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.
When I am healthy, I feel in control and powerful. My destiny is my own. But then, out of nowhere, I lose all of that. Suddenly nothing is in my control - I can't even get my own body to do what I want.
You really don't know how little control you have until you lose what you have. At least that's what I've experienced.
The last verse means a lot to me because it is an echo of my life. When I was healthier and things were going great, I didn't need to depend on God as much. In that way, a positive thing that came out of being sick is I have a deeper relationship with God now.
