My name is Lisa and I'm a Canadian in my mid 20s. I love playing piano and I'm [slowly] working on my Bachelor of Education for high school special ed students. I love spending time with my husband, playing piano, and cuddling my little pup named Archie. I'm a Christian and am currently part of a church planting team that will be planting a church in Jan 2015 in our city. My faith and relationship with Jesus are really important to me and are what have gotten me through these past few years of being sick.
In Jan 2010 I got mononucleosis (mono). Mono damaged my autonomic nervous system which got worse over time.
I have a condition called POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). While my heart and blood vessels are structurally fine, my brain doesn't tell them to to work properly. Blood doesn't get circulated in my body properly.
I'm always exhausted, I get dizzy and nauseous whenever I'm standing, my heart beats excessively (140 beats/min) any time I'm not lying down, I have trouble concentrating and remembering things, I start to black out all the time, my stomach muscles are partially paralyzed, and I had to go on long term disability. My life didn't go the way I planned it, but I'm okay. I love life and having a chronic illness has given me a new perspective on many things.
