Showering
Showering is one of the most exhausting things for someone with POTS. This is because hot water dialates blood vessels causing blood pressure to drop. During a shower, you have to raise your hands above your head to wash your hair. This causes the heart to work even harder as blood pools in the lower half of your body.
When I come out of the shower, my feet are always poofy and red/purple.

Tips for Long Hair:
Long hair is beautiful and fun but exhausting to keep clean. Here are some tips for dealing with long hair:
- Wash your hair every 2nd or 3rd day - Use a shower cap when showering on the off days
- Wear French Braids - Dirty hair helps french braids stay in place and helps hide the grease!
- Wear bandanas or wide headbands with pony tails or buns
- Shampoo your bangs in the sink - Bangs tend to get greasy faster than the rest of your hair
- Wear lots of toques/hats.
