Salt
Most patients with POTS can't get enough salt. My cardiologist always stresses how important it is for me to be getting 7-8 g of salt per day. That's A LOT of salt!
Many foods high in salt are also high in fat and other not so healthy ingredients. But adding salt to some foods can be nauseating.
I've made a list of healthier foods that are high in salt without tasting bad.
- Pickles/Pickle Juice
- Cheese/Cottage Cheese
- Soy Sauce
- Miso Soup
- Instant Noodle Soups
- Soup Bouillon
- V8 Juice
- Beef Jerky
- Salted Nuts
Foods that hide salt quite well are:
- Potatoes and Sweet Potatoes
- Eggs
- Cucumbers and Tomatoes
- Air Popped Popcorn
- Pasta
- Peanut butter
I will try to keep my Recipe Corner updated with high salt recipes.
***Make sure you're drinking enough water for the salt to benefit you***
