I got a call today confirming that my surgery date has been bumped up to next Thursday! I was expecting it to be closer to January.
I'm a little nervous. I've never had any sort of surgery before, and have never been under general anesthetic. I'm more nervous about the recovery part though, since I've never been able to take stronger painkillers without vomiting. I will have a chance to discuss all this with my anesthetist, surgeon, and primary care physician though.
A little more about Dermoid Cysts:
Cysts on the ovaries are very common. Most cysts are fluid-filled and although they can be very painful, they eventually burst on their own.
Dermoid cysts are NOT fluid-filled. They contain tissue, similar to that of other parts in the body. Sometimes Dermoid Cysts can even grow skin, hair, or teeth!! Ew!!!!
